Environmental Ethics and Trail Etiquette

Conservation Halton trails pass through sensitive natural areas that protect plants and wildlife.  Staying on the marked trails and not littering or removing natural materials helps protect these beautiful parks.  Many of the trails are shared with winter hikers.  Skiers should keep to the right and yield to other trail users.

Cross-Country Skiing Safety

There are some risks associated with cross-country skiing in natural areas.  Some of the trails follow shorelines of creeks and lakes and cliff edges where caution should be exercised when skiing.  Certain weather conditions may make trails unsafe such as ice and high winds. Watching children carefully, being aware of weather conditions and being careful on hills will make your skiing adventure fun and safe.
