Environmental Ethics and Camping Etiquette

Conservation Halton campsites are located in natural areas that protect fragile plants and wildlife. Observing the campsite rules of restricting open fires to fire rings and barbecues, not removing wood from forest areas, keeping a clean site and respecting other park visitors helps protect our beautiful parks and ensures a pleasant camping experience.

NOTICE - WOOD BAN in effect to prevent the moving of firewood within Ontario. Campers are not permitted to bring wood into the Conservation Areas to prevent the introduction or spread of infestations and disease.

NO ALCOHOL is permitted in Conservation Halton parks.

Camping Safety

There are some risks associated with camping in natural areas. Group leaders* should be in control of their campers and observe safety regulations. Many park trails follow cliff edges and the shorelines of creeks with no barriers from steep slopes and water.  When swimming at Kelso, groups must report to the head lifeguard upon arrival at the beach area.

*Please ensure you have at least one 21 year old group leader for every 7 people in the group
